Chicken Wire Picture Frame

In our neighborhood, we have what is called bulk item trash day.  It is the first week of the month.  So you can put out close to anything on your front driveway and the city comes buy and picks it up.  So this is a time when a lot of people do "drive by shopping".  You know the old saying "one man's trash is another man's treasure".  Well, I was driving on my way home and saw the neighbor had a pile of junk and on top of the junk was an old junky worn out water color painting in a frame, so I picked it up.  I took out the picture and was left with a wooden frame, then I spray painted it with Krylon paint and then went down to Home Depot and bought some Poultry Wire (they don't call it chicken wire).  You can find it in the fencing section.  I turned the frame upside down and measured the chicken wire to fit the frame.  The frame still had the staples in it, so I just wrapped the chicken wire around the staples and, using pliers, pressed the staples back against the frame.  I had some clothespins in various sizes, from all my craft supplies and use this to clip things to the wires.  I hung it on my wall and found it was the perfect place to hang all the cards my husband and I get throughout the year for various occasions.  I think this gives honor to the person who gave us the card, without having to take up space on our entertainment center or any other flat area that we put our cards.  It definitely freed up some counter space and made the room look a little cleaner.  There was plenty of leftover chicken wire, so I will have to go find more frames and make them for gifts. I wish I had taken a picture of the original picture and frame, so you could see the before and after, but I did take these few, so you can see how it came out.
